Black Stone Cherry and The Parlor Mob, Webster Theater, 10/11/08

Last weekend, we checked out Black Stone Cherry and The Parlor Mob at the Webster Theater in Hartford. Theory of a Deadman was the headliner, but really, we couldn’t be bothered so we bounced after.

BUT: Parlot Mob and Black Stone were s-i-c-k.

The Parlor Mob hit the stage first in support of their debut album “And You Were a Crow” (HIGHLY recommended…pick it up!). Decent set time for being listed 3rd on the bill – the band played for approximately 40ish minutes. The best part of the set was the inclusion of the 8-minute-long “Tide of Tears.” They fuckin’ NAILED it.

The group sounds like a blend of Zeppelin and Wolfmother (though word on the street is that they dislike the comparison to Page, Plant, and the gang).  Check it. Dig it. Buy it. etc.

Black Stone Cherry hit the stage next mostly playing tunes from their 2nd album “Folklore and Superstition.” “Rain Wizard” was left off the set list, which was both bogus and sad since it was the first time I saw them, but the set list did include such tunes as “Blind Man,” “Please Come In” (blah), “Hell and High Water,” “Tired of the Rain,” and the highlight: “Maybe Someday” as a closer.

If you get the chance: check both of these bands out.

Because TLW says so.
