Transformers 2(hours of my life that I’ll never get back)

I don’t know why I was expecting this movie to be awesome. The first Michael Bay film was, dare I say it, fantastic! The story was good, giving its human characters a purpose and reason to be mixed in between the battle of the Autobots vs. the Decepticons. The CGI was unlike anything we’d ever seen before. The action was solid, and not over-produced like many of Bay’s other films. So a sequel to one of the best summer blockbusters of the decade? Sign me up, right?

Wrong.

So the movie was 2.5 hours. You think in the midst of those nearly 3 hours, there would be some sort of story involved. Some comprehensive form of narrative storytelling. Nada. During many parts of the film, I had zero idea as to why Big Robot #1 was destroying Other Big Robot #2 and why Sam and his hottie gf were just sitting there watching. Alriiiiiight.

After a while, even the cool CGI and visuals get old. With no real plot to give them meaning, it’s just a clusterfuck of nonsensical things happening on screen and you just simply lose the energy to give a damn.

Over-produced like whoa. I didn’t feel this way about the first – but hey, it’s a Michael Bay film! So you know what that means:

Can I stop blogging about this now? I feel like the movie is STILL winning because I’m wasting even more time on it…

NEXT UP: Bruno. And I can’t take another disappointment. (Well, I can. I just don’t want to, dammit.)

  1. Nick, all you had to do was read a few of the universally negative reviews to know this movie would stink.

  2. I love the first one, so I felt obligated to see it regardless!

And…reviews for Terminator Salvation weren’t too hot, but I loved that movie!
